Requesting deletion of your data

You can ask us to delete the personal data maklly holds about you. This page explains the two ways to do that and what happens afterwards. It is the address referenced by our Privacy Policy, and the one to give to an app store or platform that asks for a data-deletion URL.

Delete your account yourself

If you can still sign in, this is the fastest route and needs no request:

  1. Sign in to maklly.
  2. Open Settings → Account.
  3. Choose Delete account and confirm.

Deleting your account removes your profile, your authentication credentials and the content stored against your account.

Ask us to delete it

If you cannot sign in, or you want data deleted that is not tied to an account you control, email us at hi@schmedu.com from the address you signed up with and tell us what you would like removed.

We may ask you to confirm your identity before acting — not to obstruct the request, but because deleting one person's data on another person's say-so is itself a breach.

What we do next

We respond to deletion requests without undue delay and in any case within one month of receiving them, as required under Art. 12(3) GDPR. If a request is complex we may extend that by a further two months and will tell you why within the first month.

What we may keep, and why

Some records survive a deletion request because the law requires it or because we need them to defend a legal claim. Typically that means:

  • Invoices and payment records, which commercial and tax law require us to retain for a fixed period.
  • Records of the deletion request itself, so we can show it was honoured.
  • Security and abuse logs, kept for as long as they are needed to protect the service and its other users.

Anything we retain on these grounds is restricted to that purpose and deleted once the reason for keeping it lapses.
