Turn on AI access

Sign in with Apple in the maklly app, read the consent screen, and switch AI access on.

Everything here happens in the maklly app on your iPhone, under Settings → AI Access (in German: KI-Zugriff).

1. Sign in with Apple

Tap Sign in with Apple. One tap does two things: it creates your maklly account (or signs you into the one you already have) and it links this iPhone to it. Apple supplies a verified email address, so there is no confirmation mail to wait for.

Signing in is not consent to sync. Nothing is uploaded yet.

After signing in, the screen shows Before you turn this on with three facts:

  • Transcript text & details — stored on maklly's server in Germany, including property, area, location and date.
  • Audio & photos — never leave this phone.
  • Turning it off — deletes everything already on the server.

Tap Enable AI access to switch it on.

3. What happens next

The transcripts already on your iPhone are uploaded, and every new one follows automatically. Only recordings that already have a transcript are included — a recording without text is nothing an assistant could answer from.

The Status row tells you where the sync stands:

  • All transcripts synced — everything is up to date.
  • N recordings waiting — some are still queued, for example because you are offline. They are sent as soon as there is a connection.
  • Couldn't sync last time — something went wrong; a Retry now row appears underneath. See Troubleshooting.

Recordings are queued on the phone while you are offline, so a basement with no signal costs you nothing.

Linking with a code instead

Sign in with Apple is the fast path, but it is not the only one. Use a link code if you want to link a second device, or if you do not use an Apple ID.

A code comes from the maklly web app, so you need to be signed in there first. If your account was created with Sign in with Apple, open the web app from the phone with Connect an AI assistant (see Connect an AI assistant).

  1. In the web app, go to Settings → AI access and choose Link the maklly app. You get an 8-character code that is valid for 10 minutes. Creating a new code invalidates the previous one, so only one code is ever live.
  2. In the maklly app, go to Settings → AI Access → Link with a code instead, type the 8 characters and tap Link.

Both paths end up on the same account, and a device linked either way works exactly the same.

Turning it off again

Flip the AI Access switch off. maklly asks you to confirm, then deletes everything already synced to the server. The device stays linked, so you can turn it back on later without signing in or entering a code again.
